Halunen law serves as co-counsel in this class action against Bluestem Brands, Inc. for its allegedly deceptive sales practices, through its online marketplace Fingerhut.com. According to the Complaint, the defendant, via its website Fingerhut.com, targets low-income consumers for the sale of extremely high-cost electronics and household goods. Allegedly, most purchases on Fingerhut are made on credit arranged by the defendant, while the prices of the items are significantly marked-up compared to identical items sold on the defendant’s other site Gettington.com. Because items sold on Gettington are typically purchased outright, the price markup on Fingerhut is allegedly used to offset the risks in selling the items on credit. As such, the price markups are claimed in the Complaint to be hidden finance charges.
